Spinning Discs Sheffield
About Spinning Discs Sheffield
Spinning Discs Sheffield is an independent record shop established to give music lovers in Sheffield a place to meet, relax and browse new, reissue and select second hand vinyl in a friendly community environment. We are not a global. We value our Customers, their views and comments.
We cater across the very wide board of musical tastes from Indie to Classical and Hip Hop to Metal.
If we don’t happen to cater for a Customer’s taste then we always welcome a discussion to see what we can do.
We want you to enjoy the experience of spending time browsing through physical records and perhaps chancing upon something you fancy or even just liking the cover art and thinking “why not”. We believe that the age of the physical format is here to stay. So let’s get physical.
If you love music and love vinyl then Spinning Discs Sheffield is definitely worth a visit.
The Record Emporium
At our Record Emporium in Spinning Discs Sheffield we’ve got over 6,000 select second hand records for you to browse at your leisure.

Record Store Day Drops 2020
29th August, 26th September and 24th October – Thanks for the support!
2020 saw the rearranged (again!) 13th Record Store Day(s) in the UK and the 5th at Spinning Discs Sheffield on Saturday 29th August, Saturday 26th September and Saturday 24th October!
We opened our doors on these days at 8am (with the exception of the October date as it was a little fresh so we held off until 10.30am) and closed at 5pm. This year the first person stood in the queue around 4.15am (so the 2019 record of 3am wasn’t beaten).
On the day itself we (as ever) sold all of our RSD stock on a first come first served basis (as we’re sure you already know) and thankfully we didn’t have to use our right to not serve any one if we thought they were going to ‘flip it’ (i.e. put it straight on to eBay et cetera) as this isn’t what RSD is about.
A big thanks to all of you who came along to RSD20 over the three dates – See you on Record Store Day(s) 2021 – if not (online) before! It’s RSD everyday!
Fancy pre-ordering a new release that will be hitting the racks in a few weeks time? We can pre-order vinyl for you to collect from the shop on the day of release. Just look on our online shop here, send us an email to preorders, give us a call on 07521 450 111 or 0114 2582387 or pop in to the shop to see us. Loads of options!
We’re members of ERA
We are proud to be members of ERA (Entertainment Retailers Association).
So the lovely people at Love Record Stores have pulled together their top 100 albums of 2020 and have gone all out in getting some of them pressed up on vinyl in exclusive limited colours and numbers
We’re lucky enough to have secured a few so from 6pm this Saturday the 5th December 2020 you’ll find them in the racks at Spinning Discs Sheffield (although we’ll be closed so youi’ll have to pop in on Sunday when we open at 11am!)
We’re limiting them to one per customer (as in some cases we only have one copy!)
Keep an eye out on our Social Media channels for updates on what we’ve got in store
Firstly we’d like to say a massive thanks again to you all for your continued support.
As of Wednesday 2nd December 2020 we’re back open as usual (with Hands, Face, Space controls in place)
If for whatever reason you’re still not able to get in to see us and you fancy a record or two get in touch with us through email (email@example.com), social media(@Spinning_Discs) or phone (0114 258 2387) and we will try our best to help.
We can post records to your home and if you’re reasonably local we can deliver.
2020 sees the 13th Record Store Day in the UK and the 5th at Spinning Discs Sheffield on Saturday 18th April.
Due to popular demand (we like to listen to you all) we’ll be opening our doors at 8am and closing them at 6pm. Last year the first person stood in the queue around 3am! So bring a warm jacket and shoes!
On the day itself and the following week we’ll (as ever) sell all of our RSD stock on a first come first served basis (as we’re sure you already know) and we do have the right to not serve any one if we think they are going to ‘flip it’ (i.e. put it straight on to eBay et cetera) as this isn’t what RSD is about.
For Record Store Day in 2019 we teamed up with our wonderful neighbours at Create Coffee to have a full day of enjoyment through vinyl lovers being able to spin some of those RSD19 tunes on some decks, drink great coffee and eat some fantastic cakes – and we’re planning on doing the same again in 2020!
Our Record Store Day Queue Quiz (compiled by our very own Popmaster Dan) will be back to keep those brains ticking over with prizes including a £25 Record Token and a selection of other goodies!
We’ll be posting and listing all the potential top quality vinyl exclusives on our website and Social Media feeds before the day – and on Record Store Day itself we’ll keep you all up to date with what’s in and what’s not via our Twitter (@Spinning_Discs) feed
A big thanks to all of you who came along to see us on Record Store Day RSD19 – We’re sure that we’ll see you on Record Store Day 2020 – if not before!

In the Emporium come down and check out loads of lovely select second-hand beauties!
This year’s list sees a wide range of releases to suit most tastes from 808 State to Zero 7 with Bowie in between.
We’ll be opening our doors on Saturday 13th April at 9am and closing them at 6pm. To put you in the picture – last year the first person stood in the queue around 5.15am so if you want a guaranteed purchase you may have to get up a little earlier than usual. All RSD stock is sold on a first come first served basis (as we’re sure you already know) and we do have the right to not serve any one if we think they are going to ‘flip it’ (i.e. put it straight on to eBay et cetera) as this isn’t what RSD is about. Individuals can only buy one copy of a release and we’re putting a reasonable (at our discretion) item limit on the number of items any one person can buy. We’ll try our best to keep you updated on stock through our social media channels (predominantly Twitter – @Spinning_Discs)
We’ll be outside again around 8am to hand out some free filter coffee, tea and perhaps a nice homemade piece of flapjack.
We’ve got a RSD Queue Quiz to keep those brains ticking over with prizes including a £25 Record Token and a selection of drinks from our friends at The Hop Hideout
We’re also teaming up with our lovely neighbours at Create Coffee and will be offering you a discount voucher for a ‘fancy’ coffee and some cake – plus we’ll have some decks set up so you can pop in and spin some of your new tunes!
Friels (RSD19 Partners) have dropped off a record that we’ve popped in our racks – whoever finds it might find themselves in for a treat!
PLUS we’ve got a couple of mystery bits and pieces too – oooh – what could they be?
Here is a list of the releases that we have secured for RSD19
Please do be aware that the releases are in limited numbers and some are very limited
Finally, RSD is a day when like minding people gather, converse, meet for the first time, smile, discuss and do loads more great things – it’s a friendly day in a friendly local and broad community – we’re looking forward to seeing you on the day if not before! However, don’t forget – It’s RSD everyday.
