Following on from the global success of the 50th anniversary edition of ‘Abbey Road’, Apple Corps and USM are proud to present this multi-format reissue of The Beatles’ iconic final studio album, ‘Let It Be’.
January 1969 – planning their return to live performance, The Beatles set up in Twickenham Film Studios, London, for 21 days of rehearsals, before decamping to their new studio in the Apple office building for what would be their final, iconic live performance on the rooftop. During the rehearsal process, they asked Glyn Johns, who had been hired to help with the live sound, to attempt a mix to create an album. This version never saw the light of day, becoming known as one of the great ‘lost’ albums in rock history. Following additional production by Phil Spector, the album was eventually released in 1970 as ‘Let It Be’, the Fab Four’s 12th and final official studio album.
Released to coincide with Peter Jackson’s three-part documentary The Beatles: Get Back, the 180-gram 1LP version features a brand new stereo mix of ‘Let It Be’ by Giles (son of George) Martin. The Super Deluxe box set includes the new stereo mix, the long-lost Glyn Johns mix, and a 12″ EP, as well as previously unreleased session recordings, rehearsals, outtakes and jams – oh, and a 105-page hardbound book, too…
